YOUTH Ministry
Welcome to Uturn Student Ministry @ First Baptist, Bowling Green
I want to take a moment to share with you the schedule and explain what the programs are and why we do them.
First of all the reason we
are called Uturn is because of Acts 3:19. The focus of this passage is the
turning away in repentance from the things that hinder us from a relationship
with God. This applies to those who are new in Christ as well as those who are
battered veterans. The truth is that God does allow U turns! Sunday Morning:
After a short welcome and
highlighting of announcements we dismiss to our graded bible study classes. The
classes are broken out by grades so that your student will interact with their
peer group in discussion that is specific to them. The junior and senior class,
however, are in one group together allowing the seniors to add specific insight
on topics with which the juniors may be struggling.
Sunday Nights: Summer
Sunday Nights are different
based on the season. During the summer months we have Sunday Night After Church
(S.N.A.C.). This is geared as fellowship and outreach. These events are designed
for fun and outreach. They provide a non-threatening church environment for
“un-churched” friends. S.N.A.C. events usually start at 6:00 and last about 1
˝
hours unless otherwise announced. Because we are away from the church and food
out would add to the cost of each event, students should eat before they arrive
unless directed otherwise. .S.N.A.C.
Schedule
Sunday Nights: School
calendar
As we move out of the summer
months we move back into the normal schedule of Youth Choir and
Sunday Evening Worship
services.
Youth Choir starts at 5:00 followed by the Worship service @ 6:00. The
atmosphere of the evening worship service is casual and a little more
contemporary than our morning services. Our service is designed to be
interactive and to involve mind, body, soul, and heart.
Wednesday Nights:
Small
Group Worship
On Wednesday
nights the students gather in the Underground for announcements and a brief time
of worship. We begin with a
time of worship @ 6:00. Students are encouraged to worship through songs ranging
from hymns to praise and worship. We end our worship session with a short group
set up for the small group topic. These topics are geared to make students think about their relationships with God, their
family, their friends, and their church.
In His service,
John Beach
